As a teacher, my goal is to awaken my students' musical imagination and provide them with the tools to bring their ideas to life.
I work with students of all ages. In 2013, my training in Suzuki violin and viola pedagogy led me to begin teaching children as young as 3 years old, focusing on ear training and establishing healthy long-term habits of posture and practice. Because every student learns at a different pace and in a different style, I come equipped with a wide variety of images, games, movement-based activities, and other strategies to create the right learning environment for each individual.
My studies of the Dalcroze approach to music education have provided me with tools for introducing fundamental musical concepts through movement. In lessons, students of all ages develop an intuitive sense of pitch, rhythm, and timbre through the body -- by stepping, clapping, dancing, and inventing movements of their own.
In addition to private lessons, I have taught group music classes at several youth programs inspired by El Sistema, designed to build musical community. Certified as a Global Leader from the Youth Orchestra of the Americas, I aim to instill in all my students a deep love for music and a desire to explore.
