Last October, I premiered Oren Boneh's viola concerto Winter Walks that Gravel My Voice in Montreal with McGill University's Contemporary Music Ensemble, directed by Guillaume Bourgogne.
In the early stages of creation, Oren and I worked together closely. He sent me audio files and images and asked me to record improvisations based on what they evoked. Those improvisations became the material of Winter Walks. From those first seeds, it was exciting to watch the piece unfold.
